Football Game Preview: Chesapeake Bay Hawks vs. Dunbar Poets + How To Watch

The Chesapeake Bay Hawks will head out to take on the Dunbar Poets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Chesapeake is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Forest Park, sneaking past 20-18.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dunbar). Their defense stepped up to hand Friendly a 76-0 shutout on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Poets sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Chesapeake better keep an eye on Kyrell Lynch. He was instrumental in Dunbar's win, throwing for 162 yards and three TDs on only 14 passes, while also rushing for 49 yards and one touchdown. Those 49 rushing yards gave Lynch a new career-high. Jayvon Burrus was another key player, rushing for 66 yards and one score.

Dunbar was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 270 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Dunbar's record is now 8-1. As for Chesapeake, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-6.

Chesapeake took a serious blow against Dunbar when the teams last played back in November of 2017, falling 48-0. Thankfully for the Bay Hawks, Jared Lewis (who threw for 313 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 30 yards) won't be suiting up this time.
