Basketball Recap: Sultana Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Amyah Jones and Jayonna Waller

Sultana lost against Serrano back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Sultana Sultans fell 51-44 to the Serrano Diamondbacks. The Sultans' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Despite the defeat, Sultana had strong showings from Jayonna Waller, who posted 19 points and five assists, and Amyah Jones, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 17 rebounds. That's the most assists Waller has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Viviana Horta, who earned four points.

Sultana's record is now 7-12. As for Serrano, they moved to 6-11 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Sultana will host Hesperia at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hesperia has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Serrano, they will venture away from home to face off against Oak Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Oak Hills will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Serrano surely won't give up without a fight.
