Baseball Recap: Brookline Victorious

Brookline hadn't done well against Newton North recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Warriors came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 5-1. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Tigers back in April, they had to take a 5-1 loss.

The team relied heavily on Connor Fitzgerald, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Brookline is 4-2 when Fitzgerald posts two or more runs, but 2-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Felix Ham, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Brookline and bumps their season record up to 6-13. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Newton North, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
