Baseball Game Preview: Coahulla Creek Colts vs. Union County Panthers

The Coahulla Creek Colts will head out to square off against the Union County Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Coahulla Creek turned things around against North Murray on Friday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Mountaineers.

Meanwhile, Union County entered their tilt with Murray County on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They never let the Indians get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory.

Not much got past Tyler Richards, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Murray County off the board. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Richards.

On the hitting side, Lane Haney and Hayden Hughes did most of the damage at the plate: Haney scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Hughes scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Haney a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maddox Patton, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Union County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .316 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Coahulla Creek's record is now 5-14. As for Union County, their record now sits at 12-9.
