Preview: Tehachapi Warriors vs. South Spartans

Tehachapi is 6-0 against South since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Tehachapi Warriors will head out on the road to take on the South Spartans at 6:30 p.m. Tehachapi is coming into the match hot, having won their last 13 games.

Tehachapi can now show off 17 landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 63-28 victory over Arvin on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-9.

Tehachapi's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Riley Walden led the charge by scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Perkins, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

South suffered their biggest loss since November 13, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 57-29 loss at the hands of North. While losing is never fun, South can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1074th, while North is ranked 513th).

Tehachapi has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season. As for South, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-12.

Everything came up roses for Tehachapi against South when the teams last played on January 9th as the team secured a 72-15 win. With Tehachapi ahead 34-8 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
