Softball Recap: NEN Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

NEN hadn't done well against Guardian Angels Central Catholic recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. NEN came out on top against Guardian Angels Central Catholic by a score of 8-3. This was a revenge game for NEN: when they faced off against Guardian Angels Central Catholic on Friday, they had to take a 2-1 defeat.

Anna Jacobs was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last 12 games. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Allie Rutar was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Laney Timm was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

NEN was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Guardian Angels Central Catholic only posted a batting average of .241.

NEN's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-10. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Guardian Angels Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 19-14.

NEN didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-4 defeat against Bishop Neumann on the 15th. Guardian Angels Central Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
