Football Game Preview: Maple River Eagles vs. Blue Earth Buccaneers

Maple River is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Friday. They are taking a road trip to take on the Blue Earth Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. Blue Earth took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Maple River, who comes in off a win.

Maple River's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They breezed past Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City to the tune of 55-0. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 50 points the game before, Blue Earth was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They took a hard 22-8 fall against St. Clair/Loyola.

Maple River pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.3 points over those games. As for Blue Earth, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Maple River took their win against Blue Earth when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 48-24 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
