After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ralston, Gross Catholic was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Fairbury Jeffs. The victory was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Lexi Skradski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jules Braun, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Gomez, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Gross Catholic's win bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Fairbury, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-12.
