Recap: Ligonier Valley Rams vs. Westmont Hilltop Hilltoppers
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 63-31, which was the final score in Ligonier Valley's's tilt against Westmont Hilltop on Friday. While losing is never fun, Ligonier Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 349th, while Westmont Hilltop is ranked 58th).
Several Rams players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marlee Miller, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. The match was Miller's third in a row with at least ten points. Maddy Marinchak was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Ligonier Valley and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for Westmont Hilltop, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with that victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season.
Ligonier Valley and Deer Lakes will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Westmont Hilltop, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Chestnut Ridge at 7:15 p.m. on January 3rd. Hopefully Chestnut Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Friday.
