Basketball Recap: South Takes a Loss

South's tournament run continued when they took on California on Thursday. The South Spartans fell 60-52 to the California Grizzlies. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

California was led to victory by Sofie Addiego and Lauren Yee. Addiego went 5 for 9 on her way to 21 points and eight rebounds, while Yee went 6 of 10 on her way to 17 points and seven assists. Addiego has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Trinity Chu was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

South's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for California, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

South and Dana Hills will face off at 3:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Dana Hills has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for California, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Sidwell Friends at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
