Basketball Recap: Slippery Rock Takes a Loss

If Slippery Rock was riding high fresh off their 59-18 takedown of Johnsonburg on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Slippery Rock Rockets were dealt a 65-35 loss at the hands of the Butler Golden Tornado on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rockets of the 35-25 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2021.

Despite the loss, Slippery Rock still got an impressive performance from Cj Sabo, who went 8 of 11 en route to 21 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Belle Miller, who posted six points.

Slippery Rock's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Butler, the victory was the fifth in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record for this year to 2-0.

Slippery Rock didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-33 win against West Middlesex on the 10th. As for Butler, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-50 defeat against Shaler Area on the 10th.
