Basketball Recap: Brea Olinda Snags 13th Win in Last 14 Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Brea Olinda walked away with it. They took down the Fontana Steelers 49-31 on Thursday. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Steelers are ranked 417th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brea Olinda's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sarah Wang led the charge by putting up 17 points. Another player making a difference was Liz Han, who posted 16 points.

Brea Olinda has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 18-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.4 points over those games. As for Fontana, their loss dropped their record down to 16-10.

Coming up, Brea Olinda will square off against Oak Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Oak Hills comes in on seven and Brea Olinda on eight. Fontana does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
