Soccer Recap: Downey Comes Up Short

Downey lost against Gregori back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Downey Knights lost 7-1 to the Gregori Jaguars. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 431st, while the Jaguars are ranked 23rd).

This is the second loss in a row for Downey and nudges their season record down to 5-5-1. As for Gregori, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Downey will square off against Turlock at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gregori, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Gregori face off against the Modesto at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th.
