Basketball Recap: Canyon Crest Academy's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Canyon Crest Academy needed a changed in momentum after dropping nine straight games and they got it from Elena Colon. The Canyon Crest Academy Ravens walked away with a 44-32 win over the Sweetwater Red Devils on Tuesday thanks in part to Colon, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Sweetwater lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Leilyn Goldberg, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Delcy Maciel, who had nine points.

Canyon Crest Academy's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-15. As for Sweetwater, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Canyon Crest Academy will venture away from home to challenge Mission Vista at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Sweetwater, they will host Mar Vista at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
