Softball Recap: Velma-Alma Comes Up Short

Velma-Alma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cordell Blue Devils. The Comets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Velma-Alma's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Cordell, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Velma-Alma will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Marietta at 7:00 p.m. on September 8. As for Cordell, they will take on Pauls Valley at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.
