Cairo is 9-1 against Westover since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Cairo Syrupmakers will square off against the Westover Patriots at 5:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Cairo is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Miller County just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 4-3.

Meanwhile, Westover was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They came up short against Cairo, falling 11-1. That's two games in a row now that the Patriots have lost by exactly ten runs.

Westover saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aden Reese, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. That's the most hits Reese has posted since back in March of 2024. Dominique Ball was another, going 2-for-3 with two doubles.

Westover's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Cairo, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Everything went Cairo's way against Westover in their previous meeting on Tuesday, as Cairo made off with an 11-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cairo since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
