MaxPreps Top 25 high school football scores: DeMatha beats No. 25 Massillon, 20-14

DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.) won its third game in a row with a 20-14 win at No. 25 Massillon (Ohio) on Friday. The Stags jumped out to a 10-0 lead early in the second quarter after a fourth down touchdown run from Elijah Lee

The Tigers cut the lead to 10-7 with just over a minute left in the first half after a 23-yard touchdown run from Jalen Slaughter on fourth down.

DeMatha outscored the Tigers 10-0 in the third quarter as Bud Coombs scored from 12 yards out to make it 20-7. Lavar Keys set up the Stags with great field position after a long punt return. The 2026 Penn State commit iced the game with a third down reception after Massillon cut the deficit to 20-14 late in the fourth quarter.

No. 8 North Shore (Houston) and No. 24 Atascocita (Humble, Texas) were the only MaxPreps Top 25 teams in action on Thursday.



The Mustangs improved to 4-0 with a dominant 42-0 win against Humble (Texas). They have outscored their first four opponents, 155-16. Oklahoma-bound running back Tory Blaylock led the Eagles to a 54-7 win over King (Houston). The four-star playmaker finished with over 200 yards rushing and six touchdowns as Atascocita improved to 4-0.

Five-star Alabama commit Keelon Russell continued his stellar start to his senior campaign completing 27 of 32 passes for 474 yards and six touchdowns in a 63-14 win over Skyline (Dallas). The Panthers had three receivers go over 100 yards. Ayson Theus had eight receptions for 153 yards and three touchdowns, Dakorien Moore posted seven catches for 129 yards, and Zach Turner finished with seven grabs for 118 yards and three scores.

No. 10 Mission Viejo (Calif.) reeled off its sixth straight win to start the season with a 51-10 victory over Chaparral (Temecula, Calif.). Junior wide receiver Vance Spafford had a huge first half hauling in five catches for 186 yards and four touchdowns. Senior edge rusher Jaden Williams added three sacks giving him 16.5 on the season.

No. 9 St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) won its fifth straight game handing Bishop Moore (Orlando, Fla.) its first loss of the season with a 50-15 win. The Raiders dominated from start to finish and went into halftime with a 43-8 lead.

No. 22 Bergen Catholic (Oradell, N.J.) was the only MaxPreps Top 25 team to play on Saturday and held on for a 24-20 win over rival Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.). Minnesota-bound cornerback Naiim Parrish sealed the win with his second interception of the afternoon on the Ironmen's final drive after recovering an onside kick trailing 24-20 with just under three minutes remaining.

No. 3 Milton (Ga.) had its game moved from Friday to Monday because of Hurricane Helene. The Eagles play at Seckinger (Buford, Ga.), which is coming off its first loss of the season against Roswell (Ga.).



No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) and No. 2 St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) are among eight ranked teams that are idle this week. No. 6 IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) was scheduled to play at No. 15 Central (Phenix City, Ala.) on Friday but that game was canceled Wednesday because of Hurricane Helene.
