Baseball Recap: Grosse Pointe South Comes Up Short

Grosse Pointe South fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Grand Ledge on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Comets by a score of 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Blue Devils have lost by just one run.

Grosse Pointe South got a good showing from Henry Danielewicz (Henry), who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Danielewicz (Henry) has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grosse Pointe South saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Ogden, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Grosse Pointe South dropped their record down to 19-13 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Grand Ledge, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Grosse Pointe South will host Adams at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Grand Ledge, they will head out to square off against Lansing Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
