High school football: Coming off fifth-straight 100-yard performance, Donte Ferrell tops national receiving yardage leaders

Ohio junior leads the way with 1,744 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns.

Donte Ferrell of Woodward (Cincinnati, Ohio) is high school football's national leader when it comes to receiving yardage with 1,744 yards on the season, according to statistics submitted to MaxPreps. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound junior holds a 122-yard cushion on his nearest competition after he reeled in seven catches for 111 yards last weekend.

Ferrell has gone over 100 yards in nine of 10 contests this fall with three 200-yard performances. He had a season-high 280 yards with two touchdowns in a 42-28 win over Bethel-Tate in September.

Kellogg (Idaho) senior Kolby Luna is not far behind with 1,622 yards and 19 touchdowns. The 6-3, 200-pound senior helped the Wildcats improve to 6-3 last weekend by reeling in 11 passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns in a 64-0 win over Priest River. Luna has gone over 200 yards receiving three times.

Isaiah Green of Neosho (Mo.) caught 13 balls for 133 yards and two scores last week in a loss to Joplin to reach the No. 3 spot with 1,437 yards on the year.

Tate Kjar of Corner Canyon (Draper, Utah) sits fourth with 1,434 yards receiving while Donald Collier of Trinity Academy (Wichita, Kan.) hauled in 14 balls for 303 yards and five touchdowns in a 41-36 win over Baxter Springs last weekend to secure the No. 5 spot with 1,411 yards.
