Preview: Central Cambria Red Devils vs. Chestnut Ridge Lions
The Central Cambria Red Devils will head out on the road to challenge the Chestnut Ridge Lions at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Central Cambria will be strutting in after a victory while Chestnut Ridge will be coming in after a loss.
Last Friday, Central Cambria greeted the New Year with with a 56-38 win over Huntingdon. Given Central Cambria's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while Huntingdon is ranked 328th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Chestnut Ridge came up short against Bishop McCort on Friday and fell 52-44.
Despite their loss, Chestnut Ridge saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Isabella Hillegass, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Hillegass continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Ashlie Weaver was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Central Cambria's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Chestnut Ridge, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-5.
Central Cambria was dealt a bruising 57-26 defeat at the hands of Chestnut Ridge in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Central Cambria avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
