Volleyball Recap: Cassville Comes Up Short

Cassville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the McDonald County Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, with their most recent loss being a 2-1 defeat on Saturday.

Cassville started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 16-25, 19-25, 26-24, 25-16, 15-11.

Audrey Kennedy paced Cassville's offense, picking up 13 kills. Kennedy got some help from Taylor Kennedy and her 31 assists. Kennedy Truman and Kami Stough kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

Leading McDonald County to victory were Jozlynn Grigsby and Layla Wallain. Grigsby had ten digs and one assist, while Wallain had 13 digs and nine kills. That's the most kills Wallain has posted over her last eight matchups.

Cassville's loss dropped their record down to 9-19-2. As for McDonald County, the win snapped their losing streak at three matches and leaves them with a 6-16-2 record.

Cassville has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Mt. Vernon on the 9th. McDonald County has also already played their next match (against Seneca), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
