Basketball Recap: Tomball Wins Going Away Against Klein Cain

Tomball won the last time they faced Klein Cain and things went their way on Friday too. The Tomball Cougars blew past the Klein Cain Hurricanes 59-34. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 694th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tomball had a senior duo take command as Danielle Oyakhire posted 13 points in addition to five rebounds and four blocks and Mallory Lehmann put up 12 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave Lehmann a new career-high in boards. Kylee Symons was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Tomball and bumps their season record up to 22-8. As for Klein Cain, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-22 record this season.

Tomball will take on Klein Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tomball is facing Klein Forest at the right time seeing as Klein Forest is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. Klein Cain does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
