Fountain-Fort Carson hasn't had much luck against Pueblo West recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Trojans will host the Cyclones at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Fountain-Fort Carson turned things around against Palmer on Monday. They blew past the Terrors 17-2. The high-scoring effort was just what the Trojans needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Meanwhile, Pueblo West got the win against Pueblo Centennial on Monday by a conclusive 16-2. The result was nothing new for the Cyclones, who have now won 13 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Kassidy Donley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in September. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, Bella Gregory and Peyton Kuhn did most of the damage at the plate: Gregory got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Kuhn got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Gregory a new career-high. Gracie Briggs was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Pueblo West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pueblo Centennial only posted an OBP of .333.
Pueblo West's win bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
