Basketball Recap: Berean Christian Eagles vs. Miramonte Matadors
After flying high against McClymonds last Thursday, Berean Christian came back down to earth. The Berean Christian Eagles were dealt a 64-27 loss at the hands of the Miramonte Matadors on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 621st, while the Matadors are ranked 153rd).
Despite the loss, Berean Christian still got an impressive performance from Jianna Cayanan, who posted 13 points. Jadee Salvador was another key player, putting up seven points.
Leading Miramonte to victory were Julia Quinn-Ferguson and Robin Parmelee. Quinn-Ferguson dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards, while Parmelee dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds gave Parmelee a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Amber Jaffery, who scored seven points in addition to nine boards and seven steals.
Berean Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Miramonte, they pushed their record up to 17-9 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Berean Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 71-44 loss against Benicia on the 11th. As for Miramonte, they will square off against Campolindo at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Campolindo will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Miramonte surely won't give up without a fight.
