Basketball Recap: Boron Comes Up Short

If Boron was feeling good fresh off their 52-17 takedown of Mammoth last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Boron Bobcats took a blow against the Rosamond Roadrunners on Tuesday, falling 58-14. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1085th, while the Roadrunners are ranked 480th).

Rosamond was led to victory by Ariel Cain and Ambrie Renteria. Cain posted seven points along with 17 boards and three steals, while Renteria dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Renteria a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiley Perez, who had nine points and five boards.

Boron has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Rosamond, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-7.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Frazier Mountain the next time they take the court. Rosamond will host Frazier Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Boron will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
