Soccer Recap: Marquez Plays to a Tie

Marquez came into Friday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They and the South Gate Rams finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw on Friday. The result (or lack thereof) was the first time the Gladiators have been dealt a draw since back in November of 2024.

Their goal came courtesy of Leah Cruz, who's now up to four this season.

Marquez's draw gives them a new season record of 2-5-2. As for South Gate, they moved theirs to 10-3-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marquez will head out to square off against Maywood Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Marquez's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end. As for South Gate, they will challenge Verdugo Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Verdugo Hills' last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
