Football Game Preview: Jay Mustangs vs. Southwest Dragons

Jay is 0-3 against Southwest since September of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Mustangs will look to defend their home field against the Dragons at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Jay's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last four contests.

On Thursday, Jay took their matchup with ease, bagging a 36-7 win over Martin. With the Mustangs ahead 22-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Among those leading the charge was Tajari Wellington, who rushed for 47 yards and a pair of scores. Kyle Jackson was another key player, rushing for 56 yards and two TDs.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Southwest, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 29-20 victory over Winn on Friday. The Dragons haven't had any issues with the Mavericks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Jay better keep an eye on Dorian Moxley. He was instrumental in Southwest's win, rushing for 62 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Garay, who rushed for 63 yards and one score.

Thursday's contest might be decided on the ground. Jay has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 195.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Southwest struggles in that department as they've been averaging 220 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
