Recap: Bakersfield Drillers vs. Independence Falcons

The Bakersfield Drillers lost against the Independence Falcons back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Bakersfield took a 60-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Independence. Bakersfield has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Leading Independence to victory were Ka'Rayah Robertson and Kaylynn Bolden. Robertson dropped a double-double on 11 points and 19 rebounds, while Bolden dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Robertson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Josslyn Escobar, who scored 13 points along with two steals.

Bakersfield bumped their record down to 1-7 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Independence, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-9.

Bakersfield will head out on the road to face off against Highland at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Highland comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Independence, they will be playing at home against Ridgeview at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ridgeview is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
