Softball Recap: Citizens Christian Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Camden County

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wayne County, Citizens Christian Academy was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Camden County Wildcats. The Patriots' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Brilynn Waldron and Klair Mercer did most of the damage at the plate: Waldron went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Mercer went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Emma Gourley, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Citizens Christian Academy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 19 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Citizens Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Camden County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Citizens Christian Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Clinch County at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Patriots will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. As for Camden County, they will head out to take on Emanuel County Institute at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
