Softball Game Preview: McDonough Warhawks vs. Jonesboro Cardinals + Official Tickets

The McDonough Warhawks will venture away from home to take on the Jonesboro Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. McDonough has now lost 16 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since August 12.

On Wednesday, McDonough came up short against Eagle's Landing and fell 17-13. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (11), the Warhawks still had to take the loss.

Kylei Buffington was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Myana Phillips, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Jonesboro came up short against Sandy Creek on Tuesday, falling 20-5.

Nautika Stodghill stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Makayla Lamar, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

McDonough's loss dropped their record down to 1-20. As for Jonesboro, they now have a losing record of 11-12.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. McDonough has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Jonesboro struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

McDonough suffered a grim 16-5 defeat to Jonesboro when the teams last played back in September. Can the Warhawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
