Forest is 2-8 against Buchholz since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Wildcats will host the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. The last three games Forest has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Forest's tournament run continued when they took on Vanguard on Friday. The Wildcats narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Knights 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted against the Knights since April 8, 2022.
Noah Schoncheck made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cash Liles, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Buchholz has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.68 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They lost 10-4 to Lincoln. The loss was the Bobcats' first of the season.
Buchholz also got a good showing from Dion Wilburn, who tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Buchholz saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Kastensmidt, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another was Kai So, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Having lost for the first time this season, Buchholz fell to 21-1. As for Forest, their win bumped their record up to 13-10.
