Soccer Game Preview: Cook vs. Bacon County

The Cook Hornets will head out on the road to take on the Bacon County Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cook has given up an average of 4.5 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Cook came up short against Pierce County on Friday, falling 5-1. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 257th, while the Bears are ranked 24th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bacon County). Their defense stepped up to hand Brantley County a 3-0 shutout on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Raiders as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Bacon County's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Cook, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Cook suffered a grim 5-2 defeat to Bacon County when the teams last played back in April of 2021. Can Cook avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
