Soccer Game Preview: Monterey Trail vs. Elk Grove

The Monterey Trail Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the Elk Grove Thundering Herd at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Monterey Trail managed to keep up with Pleasant Grove until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Monterey Trail lost 4-0 to Pleasant Grove. The Mustangs just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Elk Grove's offense. They fell 2-0 to Pleasant Grove on Thursday. The Thundering Herd have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Elk Grove's loss dropped their record down to 1-12-3. As for Monterey Trail, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-9-4.

Monterey Trail came out on top in a nail-biter against Elk Grove in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Monterey Trail since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
