Soccer Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

If Independence was riding high fresh off their 10-0 takedown of West Delaware on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mustangs lost 7-1 to the Dike-New Hartford Wolverines on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Independence of the 4-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Independence's defeat was their 12th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-15-1. As for Dike-New Hartford, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2-1 record this season.

Independence didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-1 loss against Aplington-Parkersburg on the 12th. As for Dike-New Hartford, they also wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next contest, a 7-1 defeat against Webster City on the 13th.
