Basketball Recap: Pitman Continues Road Dominance on Thursday

Pitman won the last time they faced Downey and things went their way on Thursday too. The Pitman Pride came out on top against the Downey Knights by a score of 39-27. The team accrued 29 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win.

Pitman had a senior duo take command as Aiyana Hosep posted 15 points and Elexi Pulido earned nine points along with five boards and five steals. Those 15 points gave Hosep a new career-high. Marin Irasava also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Pitman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Pitman's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-11. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.8 points per game. As for Downey, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-8.

Pitman will challenge Turlock at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pitman is facing Turlock at the right time seeing as Turlock is stuck on an 11-game losing streak. Downey has already played their next match, a 34-30 defeat against San Leandro on the 20th.
