Basketball Recap: Blair County Christian Comes Up Short

Blair County Christian was the 44-9 winner over Bedford County CIA when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Blair County Christian Bobcats were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 32-31 to the Bedford County CIA Agents. While the Bobcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Agents 14-7 in the first quarter.

Blair County Christian's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabi Dull, who posted seven points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Dull has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kadee Spinazzola, who had nine points.

Even though they lost, Blair County Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 19 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Betsy Brennan was nothing short of spectacular for Bedford County CIA: she dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten boards. Those 14 points gave Brennan a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Cotchen, who scored eight points and eight rebounds.

Blair County Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Bedford County CIA, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Coming up, Blair County Christian will challenge Northumberland Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Blair County Christian's defense has only allowed 28.7 points per game this season, so Northumberland Christian's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Bedford County CIA, they will take on Champion Christian at 5:30 p.m. on February 25th.
