Softball Recap: Tift County Blue Devils vs. Brookwood Broncos
Tift County and Brookwood squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Tift County had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Broncos by a score of 5-4. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Broncos this season, with their most recent loss being a 4-1 defeat on Monday.
Lily Robinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Cora Beth McCrary made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Ella Bruce was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Tift County's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-6. As for Brookwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-7 record this season.
