Softball Game Preview: Wayne County Yellow Jackets vs. Jeff Davis Yellowjackets

Wayne County is 1-9 against Jeff Davis since September of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Yellow Jackets will challenge the Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Wayne County will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against Citizens Christian Academy on Friday. The Yellow Jackets were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Patriots.

Meanwhile, Jeff Davis took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Wilcox County. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Wayne County now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Jeff Davis, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.

Wayne County couldn't quite finish off Jeff Davis when the teams last played back in September of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Yellow Jackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
