Basketball Recap: Legacy Piles Up the Points Against Huntington Park

Legacy won the last time they faced Huntington Park and things went their way on Friday too. The Legacy Tigers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Huntington Park Spartans 63-18. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Legacy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brianna Martinez out in front who posted 21 points. Those 21 points gave Martinez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Casillas, who had 18 points.

The victory (which was Legacy's third in a row) raised their record to 14-4. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.0 points per game. As for Huntington Park, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Legacy Tigers take on the South East Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Legacy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.8 points per game this season. As for Huntington Park, they are taking a road trip to face off against Garfield at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Garfield has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 216 points over their last three games.
