Basketball Game Preview: United Christian Academy Eagles vs. Sherman Indian Braves

The United Christian Academy Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Sherman Indian Braves at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. United Christian Academy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

United Christian Academy's offense will try to repeat the strong performance it gave on Tuesday, when they got past California School for the Deaf-Riverside's usually-dominant defense. United Christian Academy breezed by California School for the Deaf-Riverside to the tune of 64-30. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 24 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead United Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jordin Edwards, who went 7 of 16 on her way to 14 points along with seven assists and five boards. Natalie Estrada was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to eight assists and seven rebounds.

United Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Sherman Indian's undefeated season came to an end after eight games back in December of 2024. They took a 51-37 bruising from California School for the Deaf-Riverside. The matchup marked the Braves' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

United Christian Academy pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.5 points per game. As for Sherman Indian, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 8-1.

United Christian Academy couldn't quite finish off Sherman Indian in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 and fell 39-37. Can United Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
