Kenwood of Chicago debuts in MaxPreps Top 25 high school basketball rankings

National rankings begin to solidify as postseason play approaches.

There wasn't much movement in this week's MaxPreps Top 25 high school basketball rankings but two teams fell victim to major upsets as previous No. 15 St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) and No. 17 DePaul College Prep (Chicago, Ill.) dropped games to unranked opponents.

St. John Bosco dropped five spots after a 67-66 loss to Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita), its second setback in Trinity League play this season. Another loss could be costly to the program's Open Division hopes.

DePaul College Prep was the only team to fall out of the rankings after one-point losses on back-to-back nights against in-state opponents.

A number of showdowns highlight the week ahead including No. 3 Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.) vs. No. 14 Paul VI (Chantilly, Va.) and No. 2 Harvard-Westlake (Studio City, Calif.) vs. Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.) tonight, No. 7 Calvary Christian Academy (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) vs. AZ Compass Prep (Chandler, Ariz.) on Thursday, No. 1 Columbus (Miami, Fla.) vs. National Top 10 No. 9 Link Academy (Branson, Mo.) on Friday and No. 14 Paul VI vs. No. 18 Christ School (Arden, N.C.) on Sunday.

No. 6 Roosevelt (Eastvale, Calif.) is the first team in the rankings to wrap up the regular season action but a handful of schools will follow suit in the week ahead.
