Soccer Game Preview: El Camino Real vs. Cleveland

The El Camino Real Royals will head out on the road to challenge the Cleveland Cavaliers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

El Camino Real is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Granada Hills Charter on Friday. They came up short against the Highlanders, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, the Royals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 221st, while the Highlanders are ranked 84th).

Meanwhile, Cleveland came tearing into Friday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 goals) and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 4-1 margin over the Patriots. The result was nothing new for the Cavaliers, who have now won eight matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Cleveland's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2-3. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. As for El Camino Real, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5-3.

El Camino Real might still be hurting after the 5-0 loss they got from Cleveland when the teams last played last Wednesday. Can El Camino Real avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
