Basketball Recap: North Clarion Comes Up Short

North Clarion lost against Clearfield back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The North Clarion Wolves took a blow against the Clearfield Bison, falling 70-38. The Wolves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-19.

Clearfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sonny Diehl led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 15 boards. The contest was Diehl's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Helsel, who went 9 for 20 en route to 23 points and eight rebounds.

North Clarion has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Clearfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Clarion will venture away from home to square off against Redbank Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Redbank Valley will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something North Clarion surely won't give up without a fight. As for Clearfield, they are taking a road trip to challenge Central at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Clearfield has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 197 points over their last three contests.
