St. Edward hadn't done well against Marian Central Catholic recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Green Wave had just enough and edged out the Hurricanes 2-1. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Green Wave as it put an end to their 11-match losing streak.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was St. Edward who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-27, 25-22.

Francesca Buono paced St. Edward's offense, picking up four kills. Buono got some help from Sam Pogorzelski and her nine assists. Pogorzelski was also solid from the service line: she led the team with seven aces.

St. Edward's victory bumped their record up to 6-18. As for Marian Central Catholic, they dropped their record down to 4-22 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Edward will welcome Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Marian Central Catholic, they will host Winnebago at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
