Basketball Recap: Notre Dame's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Tuesday

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Notre Dame had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Live Oak Acorns by a score of 52-40. Given the Regents' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th in California, while the Acorns are ranked 459th in California), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Loss or not, Live Oak got some senior leadership from Kat Clement and Rian Henderson. Clement almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds, while Henderson posted 13 points in addition to six boards and three steals. That was a full 47.5% of Live Oak's points, marking the fourth time in a row Clement has scored more than a third of the team's points.

Notre Dame has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points over those games. Live Oak moved to 20-8 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Notre Dame wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-28 win against Pioneer on the 27th. Live Oak does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
