Basketball Recap: Wakefield Comes Up Short

On Saturday, the Wakefield Trojans lost to the Clarkson/Leigh Patriots on the road by a 58-39 margin. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Patriots are ranked 93rd).

Brynn Settje was her usual excellent self, shooting 6-for-7 from deep and almost dropping a double-double on 21 points and nine steals for Clarkson/Leigh. Those nine steals gave Settje a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Baylee Settje, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

Wakefield has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Clarkson/Leigh, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Wakefield has already played their next game, a 44-31 defeat against Homer on the 27th. As for Clarkson/Leigh, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 42-39 loss against Wisner-Pilger on the 28th.
