Softball Recap: Guthrie Extends Winning Streak to Four

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Guthrie ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Midwest City Bombers. The victory was familiar territory for the Bluejays, who have now won four contests in a row.

Holland McLemore spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Guthrie saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Codi Hibbs, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Saylor Hamilton also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Guthrie's win bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Midwest City, they moved to 13-2 with that loss, which also ended their 12-game winning streak.

Guthrie didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 10-6 victory against El Reno on the 18th. As for Midwest City, they have also already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Carl Albert on the 18th.
