Soccer Game Preview: Central vs. Cedartown

Central is 2-8 against Cedartown since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Central Lions will head out to face off against the Cedartown Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Central's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

It was a proper cat-fight when Central challenged Douglas County on Tuesday. Central fell just short of Douglas County by a score of 4-3. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Cedartown had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the Eagles 6-2. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly four goals.

Their offense was hitting Coosa from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Yahir Pineda led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Central now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Cedartown, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.

Central suffered a grim 5-1 defeat to Cedartown in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
