Basketball Recap: NOVA Academy Eagles vs. Marymount Sailors
If the NOVA Academy Eagles were feeling good off their 35-10 takedown of the E EF Academy last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. NOVA Academy suffered a tough 61-35 defeat at the hands of the Sailors on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, NOVA Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1155th, while the Sailors are ranked 522nd).
Despite the loss, NOVA Academy still got an impressive performance from Valerie Lopez, who scored 15 points. That was a full 42.9% of NOVA Academy's points, marking the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Isabella Torres, who scored 11 points.
NOVA Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Marymount, their win bumped their record up to 13-9.
NOVA Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Marymount will be playing in front of their home fans against the Royals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Louisville's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups.
