Football Recap: C.H. Yoe Takes a Loss

C.H. Yoe blew McGregor out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday McGregor got their revenge. The Yoemen fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 20-17. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Yoemen have suffered since August 30, 2024.

Even if they lost, C.H. Yoe's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jax Aguirre, Mykel Keith, and De'Marques Lopez-Pinchback, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in McGregor's side was Aguirre, who picked up a sack, made six total tackles (3.0 for loss), and defended one pass.

McGregor was led to victory by Bubba Zacharias and Isaiah Jones. Zacharias rushed for 44 yards and one score, while Jones rushed for 58 yards and one touchdown on only six carries.

C.H. Yoe's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-4. As for McGregor, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. C.H. Yoe will challenge Troy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Yoemen's defense better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 27.8 points per game this season. As for McGregor, they will take on Rockdale at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 36.17 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
